In the latest print edition of the Bulletin, there's a terrific article about Michael Sauer, the kid defenseman who received a head injury while trying out for the world juniors in August. Sauer kept a running diary of his experiences, and explained how he continued to suffer headaches afterward. He delayed consulting a Dr. from Texas because of $, but finally decided to see the doctor, who apparently corrected the situation within an hour, mainly by applying pressure to Sauer's face. It's a feel good story worth reading, and presumably Jess will keep us up to date here on the kid's progress.

Throwaway

The original plan was to have Sauer keep his diary for how he spent the entire summer but things changed once he got injured at the US WJC camp. I am going to make sure Michael sees what you wrote as he was so very worried how Ranger fans would take what he wrote.

This is the second year where we had a prospect keep a diary so you the fans can see what these prospects go though. Even I who have a close relationship with many of them like Sauer wind up learning something new.

As for this season Sauer has remained healthy but this is going to be a long frustrating season for him as the Winterhawks are a very young team and are struggling big time. So far on a team that is 4-7, Sauer is 3-3-6 with 18 PIMs.

It is a Friday night and there are a lot of prospects in action tonight.

In the college ranks, Yale and Harvard get their regular season underway joining the rest of the NCAA. Boston University, Michigan Tech, and Northern Michigan also are in action.

In the CHL ranks, we have Halifax, Owen Sound, Sudbury, Calgary, Portland, Prince George, and Prince Albert all playing.

You can listen to the audio feeds of any of these games and in the case of Boston U there will be a video feed availible
