30: Val de Loire (Loire Valley) - by Villemot for SNCF (French National Railway)

Even though bicycle tours are now the rage in the Loire Valley, rail travel remains the primary means of access to the region. Even as late as 1967, SNCF produced art posters advertising train and autocar travel there.

This one is by the famous and prolific artist Bernard Villemot, who is probably best known for latter day posters for Perrier, Bally, and Orangina, as well as some of the best 40s-50s posters for Air France. The distant chateau in the image is unidentified -- the shape of its towers and the focus on its topiary gardens suggests Villandry, though it could be Cheverny as well.
