Friday,(7/3) the Rangers announced that they had signed free-agent forwards Corey Locke and P.A. Parenteau.

Where do they put this guy? Parenteau that is? They must be planing on bringing him up if there are any injuries or using him in a larger trading package if one comes about. Rangers did not bring him up last year.

Also GM/Coach Wilkerson-Are any, some or all of his decisions controlled by the Ranger organization? Looks by the names that it would be difficult for most to make the NHL?

Greg Moore's status seems unclear - reports were here and elsewhere that the Rangers 'qualified' him, but the NHL lists him as UFA http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=34760. Per those Group 6 guidelines, Moore should be: "contracts have expired, are age 25 or older, have completed three or more professional seasons, and (i) in the case of a player other than a goaltender, have played less than 80 NHL games (regular-season and playoff)"

RCM,

The Rangers are not planning on trading Parenteau. The plan for him is to play for the Rangers in NY and he has certainly paid his dues and earned the chance to do so. We're prejudice here as we think very highly of the young Canadian and think this chance is long overdue.

Locke will be in Hartford to carry Parenteau's mantle going forward. Given that Parenteau and Anisimov will be in New York, the team needs players who can put the puck in the net. That is where Tyler Arnason and Locke come in. Expect more moves to be made soon.

In regards to your question about the ECHL, these moves guarantee certain players spots within the organization.

Greg Moore will be back as the Captain of the Wolf Pack. He has been qualified and will likely sign soon.
