BARANKA BYE-BYE

Press_baranka01According to Eurohockey.net, Wolf Pack defensemen and restricted free agent, Ivan Baranka has apparently decided that his future in the NHL isn't as bright as he'd hoped and has opted instead to sign with Spartak Moscow. Steve Zipay reports in his Blue Notes blog that in fact the Rangers have confirmed that Ivan Baranka will play in Russia next season with the Rangers retaining his rights.

Baranka, the 6'3 205 pounder from Ilava, Slovakia has a lot of talent but doesn't seem to be able to stay healthy. This season he alone he was out with an injury on three separate occasions missing a total of 15 games. He put 5-goals and 21-assists for 26-points on the offensive ledger. He also missed two games while on recall with the Rangers. He played in one where he got his first NHL point adding an assist.

Baranka was a player who was popular with his teammates and fans alike.

More information when it becomes available.
